You may know of my love for Michael Bastian’s work. I’ve enjoyed watching and writing about his shows during New York Fashion Week, as well as interviewing him. I appreciate his trueness to the preppy aesthetic and the fact he’d wear his own designs. Japanese retail giant Uniqlo approached him to design a polo collection. I don’t think that type of collabo has been doen before! BTW: If you’ve never been to an Uniqlo store-think H&M. However, Uniqlo doesn’t focus on “trends” persay – the company believes customers want quality more than changing styles, which is brings me back to the iconic “polo.” Inspired by Japanese and American menswear, Michael has created a dapper, charming and affordable line of shirts. When asked about the prints he said, “We have the Lucky cat symbol, Dragonflies and the cutest of them all, the Shiba Inu – the national dog of Japan.” At $19.90 it would be wise to fill the summer closets with these polos – easy, stylish dressing for everything from the bbq to the yacht party! I’m gonna have to gift some of these!
