Happy Thursday Fashion Femme Fatales!! Another wonderful New York Fashion Week moment was on February 12th at the Eyebeam Studio where Rolando Santana showed his fall collection. When Rolando was a child he watched his mother create beautiful garments at her small dressmaking business in Mexico. Folks, creativity must be genetic. My photographer Tracey and I enjoyed the vibrant mix of gemstones and jet black hues. Inspired by the work of John Chamberlain, Rolando showed a breathtaking collection filled with lace, leather, metallic yarn and wool. What was another highlight? Meeting the stylish and humble Miss Teen Pennsylvania USA Ebone Jimerson! Please watch the final runway walkout – from my seat.
Femme Fatale Fact: John Chamberlain, who was famous in the art world for twisting together a fusion of Abstract Expressionism and Pop from hoods, bumpers, fenders and fins, died at the age of 84 in 2011.
I'm a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I've been "reporting" from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
