I’m so excited about the annual Centennial DC Cherry Blossom Festival! If you’ve never been, I suggest you make a trip to Washington, DC. This is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Back in 1912, Japan gave us 3,000 cherry blossoms as a token of friendship. Fast forward to present day and it’s an epic five-week celebration continuing until April 27th. Now, lets bring in the “chic” factor:) This festival was kicked off on Tuesday with the annual Pink Tie Party at the Mayflower Hotel. Hosted by award-winning chefs Roy Yamaguchi and Jose Andres (see pic), the fundraiser featured spring, cherry and blossom-inspired cuisine and cocktails created by 35 of the region’s top chefs. Washington’s petal partiers dressed in fashionable spring attire and of course, pink ties. I know…cute, right?!
The Pink Tie Party was sponsored by Lincoln with support from Macy’s and DC’s Capitol File Magazine.
Look out for my blogs on upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival events like celebrating 100 years of the kimono and Macy’s fashion show! I can’t wait to attend…in my very best pink:)
I'm a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I've been "reporting" from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
