Happy Tuesday Fashion Femme Fatales! How about we talk a little business this morning?
“J.C. Penney shares have plunged more than 50% over the past year as (Ron) Johnson, a former Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) executive who spearheaded the tech giant’s retail strategy, struggled to lead a turnaround effort.” (source: Cnn.com, April 9, 2013)
Yep, J.C. Penney isn’t having the best day ever. The self-proclaimed “frumpy” department store chain has been all over the news due to recent changes rejected by its customers. Alas – all is not not lost. What’s really cool about JCP? Have you checked out the collaborations with high-end designers? Who doesn’t want designer for less? How about we start with Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa, which launched last month. When I think of the Marchesa label, I can only see romance. A red carpet go-to for the A-list and sold in stores such as Saks, Neimans, Bergdof Goodman and sites like Net-A-Porter, the quality speaks for itself. I was delighted to see JCP joined forces with the couture and bridal gown line. Items from “Pearl” range anywhere from under $100 to a little bit over, which if you know Marchesa is a steal! The dresses are prom, party perfect or beautiful to wear as a wedding guest (wink wink). Look out for my upcoming post on the Duro Olowu line for JCP. He’s an Nigerian-born designer based in London whose limited-edition collection is available right now.
I’m a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I’ve been “reporting” from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I’d sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, “I think you need a blog!” LOL! I’ve been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
