OOH THE CAKE!!! AND THE FOOD!! Wedding Party Deets!

TGIF!!! Happy Friday everyone! As promised let’s chat a bit about the food from last Saturday’s wedding “party” in LA. When you have a second, please check out a quick video of the cake cutting. I immediately cracked up when I saw how long it took to cut that deliciously thick cake! Shout out to Magnolia Bakery on West 3rd Street in LA! Known for making fresh and handmade products, the company specializes in nontraditional “DECONSTRUCTED WEDDING CAKES.” What’s a deconstructed cake?  Instead of having one cake there are multiple separate cakes following a theme.  We had vanilla cake with lavender swiss dot icing, chocolate cake with pink buttercream icing and the red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. All were all winners and matched perfectly with the décor for the Rat Pack vintage style party. I’m excited to hit up Magnolia Bakery in NYC  during my upcoming stay for NYFW in Febraury.  Now, on to to the yummy “finger food!” Keeping with the “tea time” theme (event started at 2p) we chose from Clementine’s fall/winter tea sandwich menu: smoked turkey with basil and sun-dried tomato spread, house-cured gravlax, Clementine chicken salad and egg salad with cornichons. In addition, we enjoyed salmon tartare on brioche crisps, house-cured gravlax, truffled mushrooms on crostini, crostini with seared rare beef, bite-sized flaky buttermilk biscuits with shaved country ham and a touch of apple butter and mini quiche slices.  A family-owned, neighborhood bakery-café, Clementine was the perfect choice to “rep LA” as our caterer. I can’t forget the cotton candy! The chosen flavors were lavender (tasted like grape) and classic pink (ooh, vanilla flavored).  Last but not least, the drinks were inspired by two of the party colors (lavender and rose). 1 pump of Torani Lavender Syrup

8 oz.  sparkling lemonade

Dash of vodka

Organic lavender twig



Combine ingredients in a glass filled with ice. Stir and garnish with lavender twig.




1 pump Torani Rose Syrup

6 oz. Pellegrino sparkling water

Edible Roses (optional)



Combine ingredients in a glass filled with ice. Stir and garnish with edible rose petals on top
