Happy Thursday Fashion Femme Fatales and Gents! This past Sunday I was blessed to watch a feast for the eyes walk down the runway at the Lincoln Center! Vivienne Tam’s Fall 2014 collection was inspired by 70’s fashion and the Dunhuang Caves in China. If you’ve never heard of those caves, they are amazing! The first were dug out way back in 366 CE for Buddhist meditation and worship. They contain Buddhist art spanning 1,000 years. In Vivienne’s line, many of the pieces were illustrated with cave drawings. Her collection was a mix of textured sheer lace, embroidery and embellishments with two-toned fabrics, brocades, broiled wool, boucle and digitally printed sweaters. The colors were earth tones sepia, amethyst, carnelian, lapis lazuli, oxidized and jade green. My personal fav were the printed tights (see on model in below pic).
Kristy Samone Backstory: My boo Madinah (in red jacket) and I both agreed it was an outstanding collection! She enjoyed her interview with the most gracious Vivienne Tam, who had to stop down momentarily when the models walked onto the runway, only to quickly resume once the show was over. I was surrounded by excellent company as my seats were next to MSNBC superstar (my cousin) Rashida and an very cool writer from Global Grind magazine. In addition, I was impressed by Vivienne Tam’s swag: iphone cover digitally printed like her collection plus a super inventive “WECHAT” app which allowed for exclusive information on the collection during the show. How do you like the line? What are your thoughts about the digital prints and colors? I’d love to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of Thursday, my loves!

Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL!
