Nails are just as important an accessory as a piece of jewelry. Each season I eagerly wait to see what the nail trend will be whether it’s the metallic pinky, the inverted French manicure or the blue shade. This fun can be traced back to the Chinese during 3,000 BC who used everything from real metals like silver and gold (ooh fierce!) to flowers for tinting. Also, they used an inventive mix of gelatin, vegetable dyes, beeswax and gum arabic. The ancient Egyptians, both men and women, painted their nails to show status. In the U.S., nail polish became the rage with the introduction of automobile paint. Cutex created a line of colored “nail glosses” in 1917 and the rest is history. Isn’t this fascinating? Check out some of the amazing nails I’ve seen over the past few weeks. The trend to watch for in 2013 is to have all of the nails be the same color ( think 50’s) and nude nails. There’s an example below from a fashionista sitting beside me at a runway show last month.:)

Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
