Happy Friday Loves!
I felt honored to kick off my New York Fashion Week with a live interview with Al Jazeera, which reports news from the Middle East and around the globe. The producer told me they were excited to have a bit of fun, since they usually do harder stories.
You know I was ready to bring the fun – lol – and the money talk. I would speak about the purpose of the shows (to get the designer’s vision out to as many influential people as possible during ten minutes), the cost of a runway show (can be upwards to $400,000) what celebrities have been paid to attend (Beyonce and Jennifer Anniston have gotten $100,000 for a single show), how new technologies are tested there and things of the sort. Perhaps, my favorite question was when will the looks on the runway make it to the anchor’s suit. “Oh, like your tie? About two or three seasons.”
Also interesting were the folks I met. In the green room I chatted with Pulitzer Prize winning author David Cay Johnson whose written a book about the making of Donald Trump. Says its’ what the presidential nominee doesn’t want you to know. I gushed over the makeup artist’s vibrant hued hair as she doted over the Kevyn Aucoin brown lipshade I walked in with. Probably the best part was seeing my buddies Clay (set the interview up) and Damon, who I’d worked previously with during my television career.
OUTFIT: I was feeling the fun vibe, so I sported a textured floral dress by the amazing doll designer Robert Tonner and my lucky “FIERCE” peplum belt. Oh yeah, an 80’s hair:) Have a wonderful weekend all!
