Happy Wednesday Fashion Femme Fatales! Today I’m writing more about my travel in Venezuela earlier this month. At one point during our group was separated either by having to work (like my hosts: sis and hubby) or backpacking around the waterfalls (other sis and cousin). Mom and I teamed together with our wonderful tour guide, Johan, and fantastic driver, Henry, to hit the streets of Caracas. One of our more interesting stops was the Post Facto African museum in Caracas. The curator (originally from Egypt) showed us his vast collection and spoke of expansion plans including a new restaurant and library. Some of my favorite pieces were the metal big cats symbolizing the actual felines who’d protect princesses and the rooster trunk where brides-to-be would keep their new sheets. The artifacts are from all over the African continent ranging from Benin, to Cameroon to Ethiopia to Nigeria. After the museum, we headed to a famous vintage site – the Hotel Avila. There we enjoyed a perfect cup of Venezuelan coffee by the pool while watching one of the local celebrities prepare for her nutritious cooking show. The traffic was quite packed there (something the Venezuelans are used to like my fellow Washingtonians), but we made it back to my sister’s in good time for our next adventure.
I'm a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I've been "reporting" from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
