Adding to my continuing coverage of menswear runway shows, well dressed men on the street and men accessories, I have a special treat in store for you. With attendees that look as good as the clothes, Michael Bastian’s runway show has always my New York Fashion Week highlight! Ha! After the show I asked Michael backstage what was his inspiration for this collection, “This season there were a couple of inspiration… the artist, Helen Frankenthaler. The color field artist. This idea of a perfect beach house on Fire Island and early 80’s GQ,” adding that the inspiration this season wasn’t totally specific, “If something drifted in our world and we found it interesting. It found its way into our collection.” Well, I loved every bit of this beach chic collection from his staple rolled up jackets, to the cut off shorts to his cool sport coats. I drooled equally over the dusty color palette, the swagger of the models and the tuxedo that wouldn’t quit. It’s wonder the well-dressed trendsetting celebrities go to Michael for their looks. http://www.michaelbastiannyc.com/
WHAT I WORE: Oh and a special shout out to Robert Tonner for allowing me to once again feel like a doll in one of his designs! The light mint green dress made me feel as delicate as the raised petal-like design carefully sewn on it. He creates some amazing works of art! www.tonnerdoll.com/
I'm a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I've been "reporting" from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
