Happy Tuesday Fashion Femme Fatales and Gents! Alas! My beloved New York Fashion Week, after next month, will no longer be held at the famous Lincoln Center. IMG, the company that hosts this bi-annual event, has been prevented from renewing its contract. New York City Parks Advocates submitted claims that NYFW damages the environment in Damrosch Park. In short – the neighbors were not happy. Where will all of the heels, statement coats and red lips go now? This premiere event has gone down at Lincoln Center since 2010 when it moved from Bryant Park. Oh! How I loved the latter. Now, that’s when I first started attending New York fashion week back in 2004. WHOA! 2004! That was before fashion week was a staple event on reality and entertainment shows back when I had to explain where I was going twice yearly – lol! It was exciting to watch the models get prepped backstage (like for my favorites – like the DVF show) or enjoy all of the amazing swag given inside the venue (something that has been clamped down with the growing attendance). I’m wondering where it will take place next fall? Some say perhaps downtown, but argue it takes away from the event’s glitz. A replacement location has not been announced, but as soon as it is, I will share gladly with you. Here are a few photos from my attendance over the past 10 years or so. So many great memories!
I’m a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I’ve been “reporting” from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I’d sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, “I think you need a blog!” LOL! I’ve been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
