Femme Fatale Sweet Tooth

By KristySamone — March 23, 2012

It’s the weekend and I think we all deserve something sweet…and stylish! Whether it be NYC’s Magnolia Bakery (of “Sex in the City” fame) or DC’s Sweet Lobby (8th St) & Baked N’ Wired (Georgetown) nothing makes me feel more elated than the atmosphere of a bakery boutique. Many of my friends skilled in baking arts create “boutique-like” sweets at home. My girl Leslie makes a mean cake pop and food guru Mandy’s chocolate moon pops are seriously outta this world!

Speaking of Mandy…check out her awesome blog. The recipes are super easy and yum!

Like this one for the chocolate moon pops:

In my attempt to understand my undeniable attraction to small, well decorated sugaries, I questioned an expert.:)

Meet the mistress of all things yum… the DC Cupcake Critic.

KS: What makes for a stylish dessert?

CC: Classic like a Chanel bag and timeless like a good set of pearls, like fashion a stylish dessert must look, taste and feel good.

KS: What makes an awesome cupcake awesome?

CC: A cupcake whose cake is moist, frosting flavorful and the two compliment each other. Also cupcake shops are turning into boutique experiences. People want the cute shop, the personal attention and all the trimmings: boxes, bags and bows. It makes the whole experience celestial.

Femme Fatale Fun Fact: The DC Cupcake Critic says the coolest moment in her “cupcake experience” was meeting 3-time “Cupcakes Wars” winner and owner of Sticky Fingers bakery, Doron Petersan, who said she’s a huge fan of CC’s blog!

Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!
