Happy Thursday Fashion Femme Fatales and Gents! I hope your day has been progressing wonderfully. As promised, here are more details on my wedding from Saturday, October 12th. A very important aspect in my wedding planning was the table centerpiece. I wanted a “black tie tea party theater wedding;” although, I was well aware that a tea party goes down between 3p-5pm, while a black tie event is in the evening. I didn’t care – wanted to combine a bunch of elements. The wedding would be held at the Bluebird Theater which was built around the 20s, so I thought the décor should reflect a vintage look. I started thinking about numerous fashion designers who based wonderful collections on a variety of inspirations. Thus, I was encouraged to do a “twist” on the tea party style wedding.
Back in the day, royal Britain’s Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, would invite friends over for afternoon tea. History tells us, they would only eat breakfast and dinner…Anna was hungry (lol). Known as “low tea,” this event consists of refreshments, guest place cards, normal table settings, buffet, tiered stands and table centerpieces. The latter was very important to me. The centerpiece would be essential to the wedding. Angel of Richmond’s Tootsies Décor, Balloons and More, created 24 amazing dessert tier centerpieces for each of the tables at our reception. Handmade with bling embellishments, paper flowers and doilies, they were designed with love! On the top tier, guests enjoyed mini cupcakes in lemon berry, vanilla/chocolate and coconut from Sweetly Smitten bakery (Richmond, Va) in pastel shades. In addition, we ordered regular-sized pink moscato cupcakes for the cake table, but I’ll get into that on another day. On the lower dessert tier were sandwich cookies in the flavors of mint, lemon, peanut butter, ginger, coconut hazelnut, and Amy-O! Coffee Liqueur Buttercream (think fancy oreo) from Georgetown, DC’s Dean and DeLuca (which were initially shipped from Brooklyn, NY’s delicious bakery Amy’s Cookies). Thanks for letting me share with you guys and please look out for more wedding posts! Oh…and I feel so blessed at the outpouring of love towards Ralph and I! Merci! Photo Credit: Natalie Skidmore
