On September 9th Carmen Marc Valvo showed his spring 2013 collection during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week at 575 Seventh Ave on the 15th floor. It was a fabulous show to watch: awesome venue, perfectly directed and wonderfully casted. Inspired by the likes of samaurai warriors, origami, kimonos and antique embroideries – the new line was absolutely GORGE! Carmen is one of my favorite designers not just because of the beauty of his work and not only because of his kindness when I met him two years ago at his Nieman Marcus show. NO – it is because of his giant charitable heart which is as quality as his designs!
Do Gooder: Carmen has been a designer for Fatigues to Fabulous, an initiative help female military personnel transition into civilian life. Currently, I’m working on an event where wounded military members are “made over,” so projects like these are near and dear to my heart! In addition, Carmen will be honored next month for his work at the Oklahoma Project Woman’s 10-Year Anniversary celebration. He been involved with the Fashion a Cure Fundraiser since 2002 and has helped the organization raise a whopping $3.5 millon!
Also Way Cool: The debut of the “Carmen Marc Valvo Capsule Collection” November 2nd on HSN featuring evening looks including slim fit pants, bandage skirts and the essential cocktail dress with 3/4 sleeves.
Watch Out For: Carmen as a judge on the new season of Project Runway All Stars!
Take Note: Awesome shoes were by H.H.Brown (one of the oldest manufacturers in the U.S.), custom-made jewelry by Hera Arkarakas, hair by Ted Gibson (those buns will be all the rage in 2013!) and makeup by Romero Jennings for MAC Cosmetics.
I'm a media strategist, fashion fan and whimsical event planner. For years, I've been "reporting" from fashion shows and fabulous events to my loved one out of pure joy. Unbeknowest to me in February 2012 my sister started kristysamone.com with photos and letters I'd sent her from New York Fashion Week. She said, "I think you need a blog!" LOL! I've been trying keep us with this and life ever since:) Thanks so much for reading!View all KristySamone posts.
